Why season matters
Seoul has distinct seasons: humid, hot summers with high UV, crisp autumns, cold and dry winters, and springs that can be dusty and changeable. These conditions affect how skin heals. Heat and sweating can prolong swelling and irritate freshly treated skin; strong sun raises the risk of post-treatment pigmentation; dry winter air can make skin feel tight after lasers. None of this rules out treatment — it changes the timing and the aftercare.
Doje's guiding idea that care needs change as time passes applies across the year as well as across a lifetime.
Autumn (September–November)
- UV starts to ease, making it a popular time to begin Helios dual toning for pigment that built up over summer.
- A good moment to start courses that run over several sessions, such as Potenza for pores and texture.
- Lifting before year-end events — allow recovery time; see before-an-event timeline.
Winter (December–February)
- Lower UV and indoor lifestyles suit treatments with visible recovery, such as CO2 laser for benign lesions.
- Dry air means hydration matters: skin boosters and hydration and soothing care help skin stay comfortable.
- Seollal (Lunar New Year) closures affect booking — plan ahead.

Two faces, same treatment, different results.
The difference is the design. Tell us your goals and dates; in your 1:1 consultation Dr. Byun Jeik shows you what your face needs, and what it doesn't.
Spring (March–May)
- UV rises quickly, so continue pigment treatment with strict sun protection or pause stronger settings.
- A natural time for skin quality care before summer — GOURI, Re2O, Rejuran (added selectively) and exosome-based care.
- Wedding season begins; brides often plan months ahead — see pre-wedding timeline and the Wedding Program.
Summer (June–August)
- Heat, humidity and the rainy season (장마) mean more sweating; follow advice on avoiding sauna, hot baths and intense exercise after treatment (exercise, sauna and alcohol).
- Thread lifts, filler and energy-based lifting such as Ultherapy Prime remain possible; mild swelling can feel more noticeable in heat.
- Avoid sunburn and beach holidays immediately after lasers or needling.
A season-by-season overview
| Treatment type | Autumn | Winter | Spring | Summer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pigment toning | Good start | Good | With strict sun care | Cautious |
| CO2 / visible-recovery laser | Good | Good | Possible | Less ideal |
| Thread lift / filler | Good | Good | Good | Good, with heat care |
| Energy-based lifting | Good | Good | Good | Good |
| Skin boosters | Good | Good for dryness | Good pre-summer | Good |
This is a general pattern; your skin type, pigment history and travel plans matter more than the calendar.
Your skin matters more than the calendar
Seasonal advice is a starting point. People with a history of melasma or post-inflammatory darkening usually need more caution with heat and light whatever the month, and Helios toning intensity and session spacing are adjusted to pigment depth and pattern. Someone with sensitive or reactive skin may do better beginning with soothing and hydration care before any stronger treatment. Those planning lifting are guided more by sagging, fat and skin elasticity than by season — which is how Doje chooses energy devices in the first place.
Seasonal changes also affect how results are judged. Skin often looks duller and drier in winter and more congested in humid summer weeks, so progress should be compared under similar conditions. Mark-View 3D skin analysis helps by giving objective data at each review.
Cost
Season does not change how fees work: plans are quoted after the 1:1 consultation, and Korean non-covered (비급여) aesthetic fees are set per plan. A written quote is available on request.
Planning around travel to Seoul
- Tell the clinic your arrival and departure dates and any events afterwards.
- Check the climate at home: returning to strong sun after a laser needs extra protection.
- Avoid booking around public holidays when the clinic is closed — see opening hours.
- Plan a maintenance schedule that fits your travel pattern.

Frequently asked questions
What is the ideal season for laser treatment?
Autumn and winter are often easier for pigment and resurfacing lasers because UV exposure is lower, but treatment is possible year-round with sun protection.
Can I have a thread lift in summer?
Yes. Heat can make swelling feel more noticeable, so avoiding saunas, hot baths and intense exercise afterwards is especially important.
Should I stop pigment treatment in summer?
Not necessarily; settings may be adjusted and strict sun protection is essential.
When should a bride start planning?
Many start several months before the wedding so staged treatments can settle in time.
Is Doje Clinic open on Korean holidays?
No. Doje Clinic is closed on Wednesdays, Sundays and public holidays, including Seollal and Chuseok.
Does winter affect skin after treatment?
Dry winter air can make skin feel tight, so hydration and soothing care are useful.
