Thin, Fragile Skin Care in Cheongdam & Apgujeong, Seoul

Thin, fragile skin results from a thinning dermis, reduced collagen, sun damage, hormonal change or long-term steroid use. At Doje Clinic in Cheongdam and Apgujeong, Seoul, Dr. Byun Jeik focuses first on rebuilding skin quality with carefully chosen boosters, and adjusts filler and energy settings so thin skin is treated safely.

Why skin becomes thin and fragile

Skin thickness comes mostly from the dermis — the layer of collagen, elastin and water-binding molecules beneath the surface. As we age, the cells that produce collagen become fewer and slower, and the dermis gradually thins. Several factors speed this up:

  • Sun exposure. Ultraviolet light breaks down collagen and elastin and disorganises what remains, which is why the backs of the hands and the face often thin first.
  • Hormonal change. Oestrogen supports collagen and skin hydration; after menopause many women notice skin becoming thinner and drier relatively quickly.
  • Corticosteroids. Long-term use of strong topical or oral steroids can thin the skin. This needs medical oversight rather than cosmetic treatment alone.
  • Genetics and skin type. Very fair or naturally delicate skin often shows thinning, visible capillaries and crepiness earlier.
  • Repeated irritation. Over-exfoliation, frequent strong peels or harsh products can weaken the barrier, making skin feel thinner and more reactive.

Thin skin shows itself as crepey texture, visible veins under the eyes and on the temples, easy redness, and a tendency to mark or bruise. It also changes how other treatments behave: filler can be more visible under thin skin, and energy devices need careful settings.

How Doje Clinic assesses thin skin

In a private 1:1 consultation, Dr. Byun Jeik reviews your history — sun exposure, hormonal stage, medications, past procedures — and examines skin thickness and quality across different zones. Thin skin is rarely uniform: the under-eye area, temples and neck are typically thinner than the cheeks. Mark-View 3D skin analysis can add objective data on texture and condition.

The key decision is sequencing. For many patients with fragile skin, Dr. Byun prioritises improving the skin itself before adding volume or lift, because stronger skin hides filler better, tolerates energy treatment better and simply looks healthier. This reflects Doje’s broader principle of combining treatments only as far as needed.

Two faces, same treatment, different results.

The difference is the design. Tell us your goals and dates; in your 1:1 consultation Dr. Byun Jeik shows you what your face needs, and what it doesn't.

Options from mild to advanced

  1. Protect and repair. Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen, gentle cleansing, a simple moisturiser and pausing harsh actives. In-clinic soothing and hydration care can support a stressed barrier.
  2. Polynucleotide booster. Rejuran(PN) is often chosen for delicate, tired skin, including the eye area via Eye Rejuran.
  3. Extracellular-matrix booster. Re2O, derived from purified acellular human dermal matrix, is designed to support the dermal framework; Re2O Fine is used for the eye area.
  4. Regenerative care. Exosome or Doje’s autologous exosome treatment may be considered to support recovery and skin quality.
  5. Collagen booster. GOURI, a liquid PCL collagen booster, aims to stimulate collagen gradually across a broader area once the skin is ready.
  6. Careful structural work. Only then, if needed, conservative soft filler or energy-based lifting with settings adapted to thinner tissue.

Boosters are typically delivered by hand or with Dermashine Pro for small, even doses. Expect small bumps or marks that usually settle within a day or two; bruising is more likely in thin skin.

Where Doje’s programs fit

Thin skin around the eyes is addressed within the Eye Program, which treats lifting, volume and eye-area skin together. For the whole face, the hydration and soothing line of Doje’s Skin & Energy menu, or a Signature Program plan, can sequence skin strengthening before lifting.

When another specialist is more appropriate

If you bruise without injury, notice skin tearing, are using long-term steroids, or have a known connective-tissue or bleeding disorder, see your doctor or a dermatologist for medical evaluation first. Aesthetic treatment can follow once the cause is understood.

What to expect

  1. 1:1 consultation including medications and supplements that affect bruising.
  2. Zone-by-zone assessment; Mark-View 3D where useful.
  3. A staged plan, usually starting with skin quality.
  4. Treatment sessions spaced to let skin recover.
  5. Review before any structural step is added.

Cost

Costs depend on the boosters chosen and the number of sessions, so they are quoted after a 1:1 consultation. Korean aesthetic fees are non-covered (비급여); request a written quote.

Frequently asked questions

Can thin skin be made thicker?

Skin boosters and collagen stimulation aim to improve dermal quality over time, and many people notice firmer, more resilient skin. Results vary and need maintenance.

Is filler safe in thin skin?

It can be, but product choice, depth and amount matter more. Dr. Byun often improves skin quality first so filler is less visible.

Which booster suits fragile skin?

Rejuran and Re2O are commonly considered for delicate skin, with the choice made at consultation based on area and goals.

Will I bruise more?

Bruising is more likely in thin skin. Mention blood-thinning medications and supplements so they can be reviewed with your doctor.

Does menopause cause thin skin?

Falling oestrogen is one recognised contributor to thinner, drier skin. Treatment focuses on supporting skin quality alongside daily sun protection.

How much does treatment cost?

It is quoted after a 1:1 consultation. Korean aesthetic fees are non-covered and set per plan, so ask for a written quote.
