Sensitive Skin Care in Cheongdam & Apgujeong, Seoul

Sensitive skin reacts easily with stinging, redness or flushing because its barrier or nerve responses are heightened. At Doje Clinic in Cheongdam and Apgujeong, Seoul, Dr. Byun Jeik calms and strengthens the skin first with soothing and hydration care, then plans any further treatment at gentler settings, referring suspected rosacea or dermatitis to a dermatologist.

Why some skin is more sensitive

Sensitive skin is a description rather than a diagnosis. People use it to mean anything from mild stinging with a new serum to persistent redness. Understanding which kind you have makes treatment safer.

Barrier-compromised skin

The most common type. When the outer barrier is short of lipids and water, irritants pass through more easily and nerve endings are more exposed. Over-exfoliation, frequent peels, combining several strong actives, harsh cleansers and dry climates are frequent causes. The good news is that barrier-driven sensitivity usually improves once the barrier is repaired.

Neurosensitive skin

Some people feel burning or tightness with little visible change. Sensory nerves in their skin are simply more reactive, often in response to temperature changes, wind or certain ingredients.

Redness-prone and rosacea-prone skin

Frequent flushing, persistent redness across the cheeks and nose, visible small vessels or bumps may point to rosacea, a chronic inflammatory condition that needs medical diagnosis and management.

Allergy-prone skin

Reactions to specific ingredients — fragrances, preservatives, some plant extracts — can cause contact dermatitis, with itching and rash rather than simple stinging.

Sensitivity also rises temporarily after procedures such as laser, microneedling or peels; see post-procedure redness.

How Doje Clinic approaches sensitive skin

Sensitive skin is not a reason to avoid aesthetic treatment, but it changes how treatment is done. In a 1:1 consultation, Dr. Byun Jeik asks about past reactions, products, triggers and any diagnosed conditions, and examines the pattern of redness and dryness. Mark-View 3D skin analysis can add objective data on skin condition.

The principle is simple: calm first. Doje’s Skin & Energy menu has a dedicated hydration and soothing line, and Rejuran is added selectively rather than by default. Once the skin is stable, other treatments can be considered at adjusted settings, with more time between sessions.

The difference is the design. Tell us your goals and dates; in your 1:1 consultation Dr. Byun Jeik shows you what your face needs, and what it doesn't.

Options from mild to advanced

  1. Strip back the routine. A gentle cleanser, a fragrance-free barrier moisturiser and mineral or well-tolerated sunscreen. Introduce one new product at a time.
  2. In-clinic soothing care. Doje’s soothing and hydration care, supported by options such as LED light therapy and oxygen therapy, aims to calm the skin and support recovery.
  3. Barrier-supporting boosters. When the skin is stable but thin or easily stressed, Rejuran may be added selectively; GOURI or Re2O are other options considered case by case.
  4. Careful next steps. Pigment, texture or lifting treatments can follow at conservative settings, with test areas where appropriate.

Where Doje’s programs fit

Sensitive skin is treated within the hydration and soothing line of Doje’s Skin & Energy menu. If you are planning a lifting program, Dr. Byun factors in your sensitivity when choosing energy devices and timing; the same care applies to booster delivery — see skin booster aftercare.

When a dermatologist is more appropriate

See a dermatologist if you have persistent facial redness with flushing or bumps (possible rosacea), an itchy rash after using a product (possible allergic contact dermatitis, which may need patch testing), or eczema elsewhere on the body. These conditions often need prescription treatment. Aesthetic care can then be planned around the diagnosis.

What to expect

  1. 1:1 consultation focusing on triggers and history.
  2. Examination and, where useful, Mark-View 3D analysis.
  3. A calming phase before any active treatment.
  4. Gentle treatments spaced to allow recovery.
  5. Clear aftercare instructions and a contact route if the skin reacts.

Cost

Costs depend on the soothing and booster treatments chosen, so they are quoted after a 1:1 consultation. Korean aesthetic fees are non-covered (비급여); ask for a written quote.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have aesthetic treatments with sensitive skin?

Often yes, once the skin is calm. Settings, products and spacing are adjusted to your sensitivity.

What does Doje do first for sensitive skin?

The first phase usually focuses on soothing and hydration care to stabilise the barrier before any active treatment.

Is Rejuran suitable for sensitive skin?

Rejuran is added selectively when skin condition needs support. Suitability is decided at consultation.

How do I know if it is rosacea?

Persistent redness, flushing, visible vessels or bumps on the central face suggest rosacea, which a dermatologist should diagnose.

Will treatment make my skin more sensitive?

Some procedures cause temporary sensitivity. A recovery plan and gentle home care help the skin settle.

How much does treatment cost?

It is quoted after a 1:1 consultation. Korean aesthetic fees are non-covered and set per plan, so request a written quote.
