Rough Skin Texture Care in Cheongdam & Apgujeong, Seoul

Rough skin texture usually reflects slow cell turnover, a dehydrated barrier, sun damage or old acne changes. At Doje Clinic in Cheongdam and Apgujeong, Seoul, Dr. Byun Jeik uses Mark-View 3D data to find the cause, then chooses cleansing care, skin boosters or Potenza-based treatment in proportion to the problem.

What makes skin feel rough?

Smooth skin depends on an orderly surface: cells that shed evenly, a well-hydrated barrier, and a dermis firm enough to keep the surface flat. Roughness appears when one or more of these breaks down.

  • Slow cell turnover. With age, the outer layer renews more slowly. Dead cells cling together, so the surface feels coarse and looks matte.
  • Barrier dehydration. A barrier short of water and lipids develops fine scaling and tightness, often worse in winter, on long flights and after over-exfoliating.
  • Sun damage. Years of ultraviolet exposure thicken the outer layer in patches and disorganise collagen underneath, giving a leathery, uneven surface.
  • Congestion. Small closed comedones feel like a fine sandpaper under the fingertips, especially on the forehead and chin.
  • Post-acne change. Healed breakouts can leave shallow irregularities, enlarged pores and uneven collagen.

Roughness rarely occurs alone. It often travels with dullness (because a rough surface scatters light), enlarged pores and visible fine lines, which is why patients sometimes describe it simply as tired skin.

How Doje Clinic assesses texture

Texture is easy to feel but hard to judge by eye, so Doje uses Mark-View 3D skin analysis to give objective data on surface texture, pores and related markers. Dr. Byun Jeik combines that data with a 1:1 examination and your history: what products you use, how often you exfoliate, past acne, sun exposure and any procedures.

That conversation often changes the plan. Someone using several strong acids daily may need less, not more, intervention — barrier recovery first. Someone with long-standing sun damage may need collagen work in the dermis rather than more surface treatment. Doje’s principle is to combine treatments only as far as needed.

Options from mild to advanced

  1. Simplify the routine. A gentle cleanser, a barrier-supporting moisturiser and daily sunscreen. Stop doubling up on exfoliating acids and scrubs.
  2. Supportive in-clinic care. Aquapeel for cleansing and hydration, and Doje’s soothing and hydration care when the barrier is stressed.
  3. Skin boosters. Rejuran, exosome or Re2O delivered in small, even doses with Dermashine Pro aim to improve hydration and surface quality over a course.
  4. Skin Botox. Superficial micro-dosing can refine texture and oiliness where congestion is part of the picture.
  5. Potenza with exosome. RF microneedling stimulates collagen remodelling in the upper dermis; combining it with exosome or Doje’s autologous exosome is used for pores and texture.
  6. Collagen boosters. GOURI or Re2O for texture linked to thinning and sun-damaged dermis.

Discrete raised spots — rather than overall roughness — are a different issue. Benign lesions are assessed individually and may be suitable for CO2 laser removal; see benign skin lesions.

Where Doje’s programs fit

Texture work usually sits within the pores and texture or hydration lines of Doje’s Skin & Energy menu. Travellers with limited time sometimes pair texture care with lifting in the One-Day Program, which includes autologous exosome and oxygen therapy alongside a thread lift.

When a dermatologist is more appropriate

Roughness with itching, redness, scaling plaques, or bumps on the arms and body may be eczema, psoriasis, keratosis pilaris or another skin condition that needs medical diagnosis. A dermatologist should assess these first.

  2. Mark-View 3D baseline.

Frequently asked questions

Should I exfoliate more to fix rough skin?

Not necessarily. Over-exfoliation is a common cause of roughness, and barrier recovery is often the first step.

How does Mark-View 3D help with texture?

It provides objective data on surface texture and pores, so the plan can target the dominant cause and progress can be compared over time.

Is Potenza suitable for rough texture?

It is often used where texture involves pores, post-acne change or collagen loss. Mild redness for a day to a few days is typical.

Can skin boosters smooth texture?

Boosters aim to improve hydration and skin quality, which often makes the surface smoother and more even. Results build over a course and vary.

Are bumps on my arms the same problem?

Not usually. Body bumps may be keratosis pilaris or another condition that a dermatologist should diagnose.

How much does texture treatment cost?

It is quoted after a 1:1 consultation. Korean aesthetic fees are non-covered and set per plan, so ask for a written quote.
