Collagen Boosters in Cheongdam & Apgujeong, Seoul

At Doje Clinic in Cheongdam and Apgujeong, Seoul, Dr. Byun Jeik chooses between Radiesse, GOURI and Re2O according to whether you need support with some volume, even firming, or matrix support for thin skin.

What are collagen boosters?

Collagen is the main structural protein in the dermis. From our mid-twenties onwards, the body gradually makes less of it, and sun exposure and lifestyle accelerate the loss. The result is skin that is thinner, less firm and slower to bounce back. Collagen boosters (콜라겐 부스터) are injectables designed to work on this layer — either by stimulating the body's own collagen production or by supporting the matrix in which collagen sits.

The key difference from conventional filler is the mechanism. Hyaluronic acid filler creates shape where it is placed. Collagen boosters aim for a more global, gradual improvement in firmness and quality, which is why results build over weeks to months rather than appearing instantly.

The three options Doje uses

  • Radiesse — a calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) biostimulatory filler by Merz. It provides some immediate support and stimulates collagen over time; it is an option in the Mid-Face, Marionette and Jawline Programs.
  • GOURI — a ready-to-use liquid polycaprolactone (PCL) collagen booster by Dexlevo that spreads evenly through the layer, aiming for gradual firming without filler-like volume.
  • Re2O — an ECM booster derived from purified acellular human dermal matrix, used to support thin, less dense skin; Re2O Fine is used around the eyes.

Dr. Byun Jeik sits on the Merz Advisory Board, giving him detailed familiarity with biostimulatory products such as Radiesse.

How Doje Clinic chooses a collagen booster

The choice depends on what the skin and underlying structure need. Doje's approach is to assess facial structure and ageing pattern first, then add collagen support only as far as needed — often alongside lifting rather than instead of it.

If the main need is… Often considered Why
Support with a little structure, e.g. jawline or mid-face Radiesse Immediate support plus gradual collagen stimulation
Even, overall firming without added volume GOURI Liquid PCL spreads through the layer
Thin, less dense skin; delicate eye area Re2O / Re2O Fine Matrix-supporting approach
Skin quality and resilience rather than firmness A skin booster instead Different goal, different tool

Who they suit — and who they don't

  • Suit: early to moderate loss of firmness, crepey or thinning skin.
  • Suit: people consolidating results after a thread lift or energy devices.
  • Not enough alone: marked sagging or deep hollows, which need lifting or filler.
  • Postpone or discuss: pregnancy or breastfeeding, active infection, autoimmune conditions, keloid tendency.

What to expect step by step

  1. 1:1 consultation with Dr. Byun, including skin thickness and laxity assessment.
  2. Plan: choice of booster, areas, sessions and any combination with lifting.
  3. Treatment: numbing, then injection at the appropriate depth.
  4. Aftercare: guidance on activity, massage and sun protection.
  5. Review: progress assessed after the collagen response has had time to develop.

Recovery

Swelling, tenderness and small bruises for a few days are typical. Specific instructions vary by product — for example, some products come with particular guidance on massage. See skin booster aftercare.

Cost

Cost depends on the product, area and sessions, and on whether it is part of a program, so it is quoted after a 1:1 consultation. Korean aesthetic fees are non-covered (비급여) and set per plan — ask for a written quote.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a collagen booster and a filler?

Filler creates shape where it is placed; collagen boosters aim for gradual, overall improvement in firmness by stimulating or supporting the skin's structure.

Which collagen booster is best?

None is best for everyone. Radiesse, GOURI and Re2O suit different needs, and Dr. Byun chooses based on your skin and structure.

When will I see results?

Results are gradual and typically develop over weeks to months, varying between individuals.

Can collagen boosters replace a thread lift?

Not where there is real sagging. Boosters improve firmness; lifting repositions tissue. They are often combined.

How many sessions are needed?

It depends on the product and your skin. Some people need one session, others a short series, as advised at consultation.
