What is Radiesse?

Radiesse belongs to a group of injectables called biostimulators. Unlike a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler, whose main job is to occupy space and hold water, Radiesse is made of tiny calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a gel. The gel gives immediate lift and support where it is placed. Over the following weeks the gel is absorbed, and the microspheres act as a scaffold that prompts the body to lay down its own new collagen before they too are gradually broken down.

This dual action makes Radiesse useful where the face needs firm, structural support, such as along the jawline or over the cheekbone, and where the quality of the tissue itself has declined. When diluted, it can also be spread more thinly to improve skin firmness rather than add shape.

How Doje Clinic approaches Radiesse

Areas where Radiesse is generally not used include the lips and the delicate under-eye region, where soft HA fillers are better suited. Because Radiesse cannot be dissolved in the same way HA filler can, placement is planned carefully and conservatively.

• Suits those whose skin and soft tissue feel thinner and less firm with age.
• Suits patients wanting a result that builds gradually and naturally after the initial support.
• Not suitable for lips or the under-eye area, where soft HA filler is preferred.
• Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active infection, or with certain autoimmune or bleeding conditions; prior permanent filler in the area is discussed at consultation.

What to expect, step by step

1. Consultation: facial structure, tissue thickness and goals are assessed.
2. Plan: whether Radiesse adds value over HA filler, threads or energy devices, and in which areas.
3. Preparation: cleansing and numbing; Radiesse often contains or is mixed with local anaesthetic.
4. Injection: placed by needle or cannula at the planned depth, then moulded where appropriate.
5. Review: follow-up after the initial swelling settles and again as collagen builds.

Recovery and aftercare

Mild swelling, tenderness and occasional bruising are common for a few days. Avoid pressing or massaging the area unless instructed, and avoid saunas, alcohol and strenuous exercise for the first day or two. Sleep with your head slightly raised the first night. Firmness under the skin can be felt briefly as the product settles. Contact the clinic promptly if you notice increasing pain, colour change or anything unexpected.

Cost

The fee depends on the amount of product and the areas treated, and on whether Radiesse is part of a wider program. It is quoted after the 1:1 consultation; ask for a written quote. Korean non-covered (비급여) aesthetic fees are set per plan.
