Two boosters, two different jobs

Patients often meet GOURI and Re2O written side by side as “GOURI/Re2O” in Doje Clinic’s program options, which makes it easy to assume they are interchangeable. They are not. They sit in the same broad family of injectable skin treatments (스킨부스터), but they are chosen for different reasons and their effects build in different ways.

GOURI is a polycaprolactone (PCL)-based injectable. PCL is a biodegradable material that has long been used in medicine, and in aesthetic use its role is to prompt the skin to build more of its own collagen over time. Rather than adding visible volume in one sitting, GOURI is generally spread evenly across a zone so that firmness, density and the “thickness” of thin, crepey skin improve gradually.

Re2O is used at Doje as a finer skin booster. Its role in the clinic’s menu is skin quality: smoother texture, hydration and a more refined surface, and it appears as Re2O Fine within the Eye Program, where skin is thinnest. The exact formulation and injection plan for your skin is explained during consultation rather than generalised here.

How Doje Clinic decides between them

Dr. Byun Jeik, a surgery specialist trained at Seoul National University, designs each plan in a private 1:1 consultation. The question is not “which product is stronger” but “what is the skin actually missing?” A Mark-View 3D skin analysis can add objective data on texture, pores and pigment to what is seen in the mirror.

  • Skin feels thin, slack or crepey across the cheeks or lower face — GOURI’s collagen-stimulating role is usually the starting point.
  • Skin is reasonably firm but looks dull, rough or fine-lined — a finer booster such as Re2O tends to fit the goal more closely.
  • Both thinning and surface roughness are present — the two may be planned together, each placed where it does its own job.

Because Doje combines treatments only as far as needed, a booster is often an add-on to structural work such as a mid-face thread lift rather than a stand-alone answer to sagging.

GOURI vs Re2O side by side

GOURI Re2O
Mechanism PCL-based; stimulates the skin’s own collagen production Skin booster focused on surface quality and hydration
Target Dermal density and firmness over a broad zone Fine texture, smoothness, delicate skin such as under the eyes
Suits Thin, slack or crepey skin; early loss of elasticity Dull, rough or fine-lined skin; finishing touch after lifting
Sessions Often a short course; number varies with skin thickness Often a short course; varies with goals
Downtime Mild swelling or injection marks, typically a few days Small bumps or marks, typically settle within days
Onset Gradual, as collagen builds over weeks to months Surface improvement is often noticed sooner; varies
Longevity Varies; collagen-based change tends to fade slowly Varies; maintenance is usually planned

When Doje combines them

The “GOURI/Re2O” pairing appears as an option in the Mid-Face, Marionette and Eye programs because ageing rarely affects only one layer. A typical logic is to use GOURI where the skin needs body and support — for example over the cheeks after a lift — and Re2O where the priority is a smooth, refined surface, such as the lower eyelid or areas of fine crepiness. The aim is skin that looks healthy and quietly firmer, not filled.

Combination is never automatic. If your concern is mainly texture, GOURI may be unnecessary; if it is mainly thinning, Re2O may add little. Dr. Byun explains which one is doing what before anything is injected.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose GOURI-led care if your main complaint is skin that feels thinner or looser than it used to, and you are happy with gradual change.
  • Choose Re2O-led care if your skin is firm enough but you want smoother texture or care for the delicate eye area.
  • Consider both if a lift or filler has restored shape and you now want the skin itself to match.
  • Consider neither yet if visible sagging is the issue — structural options such as thread lifting or Ultherapy Prime usually come first.

Cost

Fees for GOURI and Re2O are quoted after a 1:1 consultation, because the amount used and number of sessions depend on your skin. Korean non-covered (비급여) aesthetic fees are set per plan; ask for a written quote before booking treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Is GOURI a filler?

No. GOURI is not designed to add immediate volume like a filler; it is a PCL-based injectable used to encourage the skin’s own collagen over time.

Can Re2O be used under the eyes?

Doje uses Re2O Fine as an option in its Eye Program for delicate under-eye skin. Suitability is confirmed in consultation.

Can GOURI and Re2O be done on the same day?

They can be planned together when both are indicated, with each placed in the zone where it is useful. Dr. Byun decides this in your 1:1 consultation.

How soon will I see a difference?

Surface changes from a skin booster are often noticed sooner, while collagen-stimulating results build gradually over weeks to months. Timing varies by person.

Will either treatment lift sagging skin?

Neither is a substitute for a lift. They improve skin quality and density; visible sagging is usually addressed with thread lifting or an energy device first.
