Uneven Skin Tone Treatment in Cheongdam & Apgujeong, Seoul

Uneven skin tone is a mix of brown pigment, redness and texture that scatters light unevenly. At Doje Clinic in Cheongdam and Apgujeong, Seoul, Dr. Byun Jeik uses Mark-View 3D data to separate these components, then combines Helios toning, soothing care, skin boosters or texture treatment only as far as each is needed.

What makes skin tone uneven?

When people describe uneven tone, they usually mean the face does not look like one continuous colour. Clinically, that impression is built from three overlapping components, each with different causes.

1. Pigment

Excess melanin creates brown or grey-brown areas. Common sources include sun spots, freckles, melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — the brown marks left after acne, irritation, scratching or overly aggressive treatment. Medium skin tones are particularly prone to post-inflammatory pigment.

2. Redness

Visible redness comes from blood vessels and inflammation: a reactive or damaged barrier, flushing, lingering red marks after breakouts, or conditions such as rosacea. Redness under a layer of pigment produces the muddy, patchy look many people find hardest to cover with makeup.

3. Texture and light

Rough surface texture, enlarged pores and dehydration scatter light rather than reflecting it evenly, so even skin with little pigment can look blotchy and dull. Improving the surface often improves perceived tone.

Underlying all three are the same accelerators: ultraviolet exposure, inflammation, hormones and a compromised skin barrier. That is why the routine you use at home matters as much as anything done in clinic.

How Doje Clinic assesses skin tone

The eye is easily fooled about which component dominates. Mark-View 3D skin analysis gives Doje objective data on pigmentation, redness-related markers and texture, so Dr. Byun Jeik can see whether a patch is mainly brown, mainly red or mainly a surface problem. In the 1:1 consultation he combines this with your history of breakouts, sensitivity, sun exposure and previous treatments.

The plan then follows Doje’s principle of treating only as far as needed: if redness and barrier damage are driving the problem, calming the skin comes before any pigment laser; if brown pigment dominates, toning leads.

Options from mild to advanced

  1. Barrier and sun protection. A gentle routine and daily broad-spectrum sunscreen reduce new pigment and redness. Avoid frequent scrubs and strong acids if skin is reactive.
  2. Soothing and hydration care. Doje’s supportive care — including soothing and hydration care, Aquapeel and LED — helps calm a stressed barrier.
  3. Helios dual toning for pigment. Doje’s pigmentation base, with intensity and sessions adjusted to pigment depth and pattern. See Helios 785/1064 dual toning.
  4. Skin boosters for clarity. Rejuran, exosome, GOURI or Re2O may be added selectively when overall skin condition needs improvement.
  5. Texture correction. Exosome + Potenza pumping for pores and texture where surface irregularity is part of the problem.

Where Doje’s programs fit

Uneven tone is usually managed through Doje’s Skin & Energy lines — pigmentation, hydration and soothing, pores and texture — combined as needed. For an event or wedding, tone work is often the last step in a longer timeline; see the Wedding Program.

When a dermatologist is more appropriate

Persistent central redness with flushing, bumps or burning may be rosacea, and pronounced visible vessels may need vascular-specific treatment. Patches of lighter skin, scaling or itching suggest other conditions. In these cases, diagnosis and medical treatment by a dermatologist should come first.

What to expect

  1. 1:1 consultation and history.
  2. Mark-View 3D analysis of pigment, redness markers and texture.
  3. A sequenced plan — usually calm, then clear, then refine.
  4. Sessions over several weeks with aftercare guidance.
  5. Repeat analysis to compare against baseline.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my skin look patchy even without dark spots?

Redness and rough texture can make tone look uneven on their own. Calming the barrier and refining texture often helps.

Is toning enough for uneven skin tone?

Toning targets pigment. If redness or texture is a major component, other treatments are combined.

Can treatment make pigmentation worse?

Aggressive treatment can cause post-inflammatory pigmentation, especially in medium skin tones, so Doje adjusts settings conservatively.

How long until tone looks more even?

Change is gradual over a series of sessions and varies with the cause, skin type and sun exposure.

Do I need to stop my skincare?

Strong exfoliants and irritating products are often paused around treatment. Specific advice is given at consultation.

How much does treatment cost?

It is quoted after a 1:1 consultation. Korean aesthetic fees are non-covered and set per plan, so request a written quote.
