What is under-eye soft filler?

The skin beneath the eye is among the thinnest on the body, and the structures under it change early. Fat and bone support around the orbit reduce with age, the junction between lower lid and cheek becomes more visible, and a shadowed groove — the tear trough, often called 눈밑 꺼짐 in Korean — appears. The result is a tired look that sleep does not fix.

Under-eye soft filler uses a low-firmness hyaluronic acid gel, placed in small amounts and usually close to the bone or in a deliberately chosen plane, to restore a smoother contour between eyelid and cheek. Because the overlying skin is so thin, a soft and well-integrating product is essential; a firm gel or a superficial placement can show as a bluish tinge or a ridge.

How Doje Clinic approaches the under-eye area

That matters because not every dark or tired under-eye is a hollow. Shadow can come from protruding fat, thin crepey skin, pigmentation or brow descent above. Adding filler into a lower lid that already has fat prominence can worsen puffiness. So the first question at consultation is always what is causing the shadow — and filler is chosen only where restoring volume is the right answer. When skin quality is the main issue, options such as Eye Rejuran, Re2O Fine or GOURI may be more appropriate.

Who it suits — and who it doesn't

• Suits: a visible groove or hollow under the eye, with skin that is not excessively loose.
• Suits: people who look tired despite sleeping well, where the shadow is structural.
• Usually not first choice: prominent fat bags — these may need surgical assessment, and filler can make them look heavier (see under-eye bags).
• Not suitable now: chronic under-eye swelling or fluid retention, active eye infection, pregnancy or breastfeeding.

What to expect step by step

1. Consultation: Dr. Byun assesses the hollow in different lighting, the lower-lid fat, skin thickness and the brow and cheek above and below.

3. Plan: filler alone, or combined with eye-skin care or upper-face lifting where helpful.
4. Treatment: numbing, then small, staged amounts placed slowly; a light touch is preferred over full correction in one sitting.
5. Review: the result is reassessed once swelling settles; a small refinement can be planned if needed.

Recovery and aftercare

The eye area swells more readily than other zones, and swelling is often most noticeable on waking for the first few days. Cool compresses (not ice directly on the skin), sleeping with the head slightly raised and limiting salt and alcohol can help. Avoid rubbing your eyes, heavy exercise and saunas for around 48 hours. Results and longevity

The contour is smoother immediately, but the final look is judged after about two weeks. The under-eye moves less than the mouth, so soft filler here can last a relatively long time; duration varies by product, amount and individual metabolism. Because over-correction is a known risk with time, Doje prefers conservative, maintainable amounts rather than repeated layering.

Frequently asked questions

Will under-eye filler make me look puffy?

It can if too much is used or if fat bags are present. Doje uses small, staged amounts and avoids filler where puffiness is the underlying problem.

Can filler fix dark circles?

Only shadow-type dark circles caused by hollowing. Pigment or thin-skin darkness needs different care, which is decided at consultation.

How is under-eye filler different from Eye Rejuran?

Filler restores volume in a hollow; Eye Rejuran is a skin booster aimed at thin, crepey skin quality. Some people benefit from both.

Is bruising common?

The area is thin and has many small vessels, so bruising is possible. It is usually mild and fades within a week or so.

Can I combine it with an eye thread lift?

Yes, when appropriate. Lifting the brow and upper face can change how the under-eye looks, so the order is planned at consultation.
