What is LED light therapy?

LED light therapy (LED 테라피) uses panels of light-emitting diodes to deliver low-level light of particular colours — most commonly red and near-infrared, sometimes blue — onto the skin. Unlike lasers, LED light is not focused and does not heat or injure tissue. It is painless; most people simply lie back with eye protection while the panel is positioned over the face.

Different wavelengths are associated with different purposes in the skin-care literature: red and near-infrared light are typically used for calming and recovery support, and blue light is often discussed in relation to blemish-prone skin. The evidence varies by indication and device, and effects are modest and gradual, so LED is best understood as a gentle supporting step rather than a primary treatment.

How Doje Clinic uses LED

At Doje Clinic, LED is listed in the supportive care group together with Aquapeel, Cryocell, O2Derm, Ulkin, soothing care and hydration care. These are used before and after the main treatments to help skin stay comfortable — not as a substitute for lifting, collagen stimulation or pigment treatment.

Typical moments when Dr. Byun Jeik may include LED are after laser toning, after Potenza or skin boosters, or for skin that is reactive and needs a calm session. Consistent with Doje's principle of using each step only as far as needed, LED is added when it has a clear role in your plan.

Two faces, same treatment, different results.

The difference is the design. Tell us your goals and dates; in your 1:1 consultation Dr. Byun Jeik shows you what your face needs, and what it doesn't.

Who it suits — and who it doesn't

  • Suits: people having toning, microneedling or booster treatments who want a calm finish.
  • Suits: sensitive or easily flushed skin needing gentle care.
  • Suits: anyone wanting a no-downtime addition on a busy day.
  • Not the right tool alone: sagging, volume loss, deep pigmentation or scarring.
  • Discuss first: photosensitivity, light-triggered conditions, photosensitising medication or eye conditions.

Where LED fits in a Doje treatment day

Main treatment Possible role of LED
Helios dual toning Gentle finish to help skin settle
Potenza / exosome care Supportive care after microneedling, where advised
Skin boosters Calming step after injections
Sensitive-skin visit Part of a soothing-focused session

What to expect step by step

  1. Consultation: Dr. Byun plans the main treatment and whether LED adds value.
  2. Main treatment: completed first, if planned.
  3. LED session: eye protection on, panel positioned, you rest for the session.
  4. Finish: moisturiser and sunscreen as appropriate.
  5. Aftercare: follow the instructions for your main treatment.

Recovery and aftercare

LED itself has no expected downtime. If it follows another procedure, that procedure's aftercare applies — for example avoiding heat, alcohol and active ingredients for a few days after Potenza. Sun protection remains important. See post-procedure redness and recovery.

Cost

LED is usually included as part of a treatment plan, and its cost is reflected in the quote prepared after your 1:1 consultation. Korean aesthetic fees are non-covered (비급여) and set per plan — ask for a written quote.

Frequently asked questions

Does LED light therapy hurt?

No. LED light is unfocused and does not heat the skin. Most people find the session relaxing.

What does LED do after a procedure?

It is used as gentle supportive care to help skin feel calmer. Effects are modest and best seen as part of a wider plan.

Can LED replace laser or lifting?

No. LED is supportive care and does not address sagging, volume loss or deep pigmentation.

Is LED safe for sensitive skin?

It is generally gentle, but photosensitivity and certain medications are checked at consultation first.

Is there downtime after LED?

None is expected from LED itself. Downtime, if any, comes from the main treatment it accompanies.
