What "K-beauty" means in a clinic
K-beauty is often associated with skincare routines, but in Seoul it also describes a medical aesthetic culture centred on skin quality and refinement. Korean patients often value clear, even, well-hydrated skin and a face that looks naturally balanced, rather than dramatic change. That has shaped a style of care built around skin boosters, toning lasers, collagen stimulation and subtle lifting — often planned so that several needs are addressed in one visit.
The Apgujeong and Cheongdam area, around Apgujeong Rodeo Station, has long been at the centre of this culture. Dr. Byun Jeik appeared on JTBC's "Crazy Super Korean" in an episode exploring the K-beauty clinic experience, introducing it to an international audience.
A typical visit, step by step
- Arrival and paperwork. A short medical questionnaire covering medicines, allergies and previous treatments. Bring your passport if you are visiting from abroad.
- Consultation. At Doje, this is a 1:1 private consultation with Dr. Byun Jeik, who assesses facial structure, ageing pattern and skin, and explains options.
- Analysis where useful. Mark-View 3D adds objective skin data for skin-focused plans.
- Cleansing and preparation. Makeup is removed; photos may be taken for your record.
- Numbing. Topical anaesthetic cream is commonly applied for injections, needling and many devices; it usually needs time to work.
- Treatment. Carried out in a private room.
- Soothing care. Calming steps such as cooling, LED or oxygen therapy are often part of the visit.
- Aftercare briefing. What to avoid, when to wear makeup, and when to fly.

Two faces, same treatment, different results.
The difference is the design. Tell us your goals and dates; in your 1:1 consultation Dr. Byun Jeik shows you what your face needs, and what it doesn't.
How Doje Clinic does it differently
Doje's approach rests on a simple idea: care needs change as time passes (시간의 흐름에 따라 필요한 케어도 달라져야 합니다). Rather than a fixed menu, each visit starts from what your face needs now.
- Doctor-led from the start. Your plan is designed by the Representative Director in a 1:1 consultation.
- Only as much as needed. Thread lifting, filler, collagen boosters and energy devices are combined only as far as needed; energy devices are chosen by depth, sagging, fat and elasticity, and Doje explicitly avoids applying every device as a package.
- A quiet, private setting. The space is designed to be calm, private and personalised — useful if you value discretion. See privacy and private care.
- Structure as well as skin. Alongside K-beauty skin care, Doje offers structural programs such as the Mid-Face Program and thread lifting built on 17 years of accumulated experience stated by the clinic.
