Before you go: prepare three things

  1. Your top priority. Write down the one change you would notice most — for example "my cheeks look heavy in photos" or "my jawline has blurred". A clear priority keeps the plan focused.
  2. Your history. Previous filler, threads, Botox or devices (with approximate dates and product names if known), medicines, supplements, allergies and conditions such as autoimmune disease or a tendency to cold sores.
  3. Your constraints. Flight date, events, how much visible downtime you can accept, and whether you prefer one session or a staged plan.

Questions about the diagnosis

  • "What is causing this?" A good answer separates volume loss, tissue descent, skin quality and muscle activity. See facial ageing layers for background.
  • "Which matters most in my face right now?" Expect a prioritised view rather than a list of everything that could be done.
  • "What happens if I do nothing, or only the first step?" This tests whether the plan is proportionate.

Questions about the plan and the doctor

  • "Who will perform each step?" The doctor who designs the plan should be clear about who treats you.
  • "Why this treatment rather than an alternative?" For example, why a thread lift rather than Ultherapy, or a structural filler rather than a soft one.
  • "How many times have you treated faces like mine, and what do you watch out for?" Specific, anatomical answers are reassuring; vague confidence is not.
  • "Can this be done in stages?" Staging can reduce risk and help you judge each change.

Two faces, same treatment, different results.

The difference is the design. Tell us your goals and dates; in your 1:1 consultation Dr. Byun Jeik shows you what your face needs, and what it doesn't.

Questions about products and devices

  • "Which product or device, exactly?" Names matter for your records and future treatment.
  • "At what depth, and in what amount?" You do not need technical numbers, but the doctor should be able to explain the logic.
  • "Is it reversible?" Hyaluronic acid filler can usually be dissolved; threads, calcium-based fillers and energy treatments cannot be "undone" in the same way.

Questions about safety and recovery

  • "What are the common side effects, and how long do they last?" Swelling, bruising and tenderness are typical after many procedures; durations vary.
  • "What are the rare but serious risks, and how would you handle them?" For filler, this includes vascular complications; for threads, infection or visible thread ends.
  • "Is there any reason I should not have this now?" Pregnancy, certain medicines, active skin infection and upcoming events all matter — see who should postpone treatment.
  • "What should I avoid afterwards, and for how long?" Exercise, sauna, alcohol, makeup and flying.

Questions about cost and follow-up

  • "Can I have an itemised written quote?" Korean aesthetic fees are non-covered (비급여) and set per plan.
  • "What is included — review visits, touch-ups, aftercare?"
  • "How do I reach you after I fly home?" Ask which channel to use for photos and questions.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most important question to ask at a consultation?

Ask what is causing your concern and what your options are, including doing less; the answer shows whether the plan is built on diagnosis.

Should I ask which product will be used?

Yes. Knowing product and device names helps you keep records and inform any doctor who treats you later.

Is it rude to ask about risks?

No. A good doctor expects the question and will explain both common side effects and rare serious risks.

What should I bring to a consultation?

A list of medicines and supplements, any records of previous treatments, and your travel or event dates.

Can I take time before deciding?

Yes. It is normal to take a written plan and quote away and decide later.
