Why language planning matters in aesthetic medicine
An aesthetic consultation is a conversation about subtle things: how much change feels natural, which feature you want to keep, what a word like “tired” or “heavy” means to you. Medical safety also depends on accurate details — allergies, medicines, previous filler or threads. When patient and clinic do not share a first language, both of these can be lost.
The solution is not to rush or rely on gestures. It is to set up the conversation properly in advance, so the 1:1 consultation with Dr. Byun Jeik can focus on your face rather than on vocabulary.
Step by step: arranging a consultation in English
- Message in English first. Use WhatsApp, LINE, Instagram DM or the online form. Written messages also give you a record to refer back to.
- State your language preference. Say clearly that you would like the consultation in English, or in another language, and ask the clinic to confirm what can be arranged on your chosen date.
- Decide about an interpreter. If you are bringing a friend or a professional medical interpreter, mention this when booking. If you would like the clinic's help, ask when booking rather than on the day.
- Send your background in writing. Concern, medical history, medications, allergies and previous procedures with approximate dates.
- Confirm the appointment details — date, time and address — in the same message thread.

Two faces, same treatment, different results.
The difference is the design. Tell us your goals and dates; in your 1:1 consultation Dr. Byun Jeik shows you what your face needs, and what it doesn't.
A pre-consultation checklist in English
Bring this information on paper or on your phone. It reduces the chance of misunderstanding and shortens the consultation.
- Main concern in one or two sentences, e.g. “My jawline has become less defined over the last three years.”
- What you do not want — for many people this is an overfilled or obviously “done” look.
- Medications and supplements, including blood thinners, aspirin and fish oil.
- Allergies, including to local anaesthetics.
- Previous procedures: filler, threads, toxin, lasers, Ultherapy, Thermage or similar, with areas and approximate dates.
- Travel dates, events and when you need to look presentable.
Words that help describe your goal
Precise words make planning easier. A few that doctors find useful:
- Sagging / descent — tissue has moved downward (often addressed by lifting).
- Hollowness / volume loss — tissue has thinned (often addressed by filler or collagen boosters).
- Laxity — skin has become looser and less elastic (often addressed by energy devices or boosters).
- Texture, pores, pigment — skin-surface concerns (often addressed by laser, Potenza or boosters).
These are general tendencies; Dr. Byun Jeik decides which apply after examining you. Our guide to the layers of facial ageing explains them in more depth.
During and after the consultation
Do not hesitate to ask for something to be repeated, drawn or written down. Before you leave, ask for the plan, the aftercare instructions and any warning signs in writing, so you can read them again calmly at your hotel or at home. If a question comes up later, send it through the same messaging thread.
Cost
Fees are quoted after the 1:1 consultation according to your plan. Ask for a written quote. Korean non-covered (비급여) aesthetic fees are set per plan; if you need an outside interpreter, any interpreter fee is a separate arrangement with that interpreter.
