Understand the four lifting tools
“Lifting” covers very different treatments. Knowing how each works makes the consultation far more useful.
| Tool | How it lifts | Onset | Typical downtime |
|---|---|---|---|
| Energy devices (Ultherapy Prime, Thermage, Softwave, ONDA) | Controlled heat tightens tissue and stimulates collagen at a chosen depth | Gradual, over weeks to months | Little; possible redness or tenderness |
| Thread lift | Absorbable threads reposition sagging tissue | Immediate, then settles | Often 1–2 weeks of swelling or tightness |
| Support filler, Radiesse | Restores support at ligament or bone points so tissue sits higher | Immediate | A few days of possible swelling |
| Collagen boosters | Improve skin firmness and quality over time | Gradual | Usually small, temporary bumps |
Questions to ask yourself first
- What exactly bothers me? A photo of the angle you dislike helps.
- How much downtime can I realistically take?
- Is there a date I am working towards?
- Do I want a visible change, or for people to say I look well rested?
- Would I rather build gradually or do more in one visit?

Two faces, same treatment, different results.
The difference is the design. Tell us your goals and dates; in your 1:1 consultation Dr. Byun Jeik shows you what your face needs, and what it doesn't.
Your first visit, step by step
- Contact: send photos and questions via WhatsApp, KakaoTalk, LINE or the online form.
- 1:1 consultation: Dr. Byun Jeik examines facial structure, sagging, fat and skin elasticity at rest and in expression.
- Mark-View 3D: objective skin data where it helps planning.
- Plan and written quote: what is recommended, why, and what can wait.
- Treatment: with numbing or local anaesthetic as appropriate.
- Aftercare and review: written instructions and a way to reach the clinic.
Starting small is a strategy
A first treatment is also a test of how your skin and tissue respond. Beginning with a single, well-chosen step shows how you heal, how long results last for you and what you actually like. It is much easier to add a little more later than to reverse an overcorrection. Doje's principle of combining treatments only as far as needed fits naturally with this approach.
Red flags when choosing a lifting plan
- A package that applies every device regardless of your face
- Guarantees about results or how long they will last
- Not meeting the doctor who will treat you
- Pressure to decide on the day
- No clear aftercare or follow-up
For more, see questions to ask before treatment.
How Doje approaches first-time lifting
Dr. Byun Jeik's background as a surgery specialist and his work with thread lifting and filler shape a structure-first view: identify the cause, then choose the least that will work. Energy devices are chosen by depth, sagging, fat and elasticity, and the clinic explicitly avoids applying every device as a package.
Cost
Your first plan is quoted after a 1:1 consultation, and you can ask for a written quote before deciding. Korean non-covered (비급여) aesthetic fees are set per plan.

Frequently asked questions
Which lifting treatment should I try first?
It depends on the cause. Mild laxity often suits an energy device, while visible sagging may suit a conservative thread lift; the consultation decides.
At what age should I start lifting?
There is no fixed age. Many people consider it when they notice sagging in their late 30s or 40s, but structure matters more than age.
Will people notice I have had a lift?
With a conservative plan, most people notice that you look rested rather than changed. Thread lifts may show some swelling for a short time.
Does a first thread lift hurt?
Local anaesthetic is used, so most people feel a sting and then pressure. Tenderness for several days afterwards is common.
How soon will I see results?
Thread lifts and support filler show an immediate change; energy-device results build gradually over weeks to a few months.
