What is Softwave?
Softwave is an ultrasound device, but it works differently from focused-ultrasound treatments. Instead of converging energy to a single point at a set depth, its SUPERB technology emits multiple parallel beams that warm a wider, more uniform band of tissue in the dermis. The aim is to stimulate collagen and elastin renewal across the treated area, improving firmness and the overall quality of the skin.
Because the energy is spread rather than concentrated, many people find the experience comfortable relative to deeper focused treatments, and downtime is typically minimal. That makes Softwave a useful complement in plans where skin firmness matters but a deeper treatment is not the main need, or where the eye area and thinner skin are involved.
How Doje Clinic approaches Softwave
Doje chooses energy devices by four criteria: the depth of the problem, the degree of sagging, the amount of fat and the elasticity of the skin. Dr. Byun Jeik uses Softwave when the dermis itself is the main target.
- Mid-face and marionette plans – Softwave can support skin firmness after a Doje signature thread lift or alongside filler, where deeper lifting is already handled.
- Eye area – in the Eye Program, Softwave is paired with Eye Thermage for the eyelids and the surrounding skin.
- Thin faces – its dermis-focused action can suit people who want firmer skin without risking loss of facial fullness.
- Not by default – if deeper structural laxity is the issue, Ultherapy Prime or threads may be prioritised instead.

Two faces, same treatment, different results.
The difference is the design. Tell us your goals and dates; in your 1:1 consultation Dr. Byun Jeik shows you what your face needs, and what it doesn't.
Who it suits — and who it doesn't
- Suits early laxity, thin or crepey skin and a general loss of firmness.
- Suits people wanting a comfortable treatment with little interruption to daily life.
- Suits those combining it with lifting or injectable plans as a skin-quality layer.
- Less suitable on its own for marked sagging or heavy jowls, where tissue needs repositioning.
- Not suitable during pregnancy, over active infection or open wounds, or with certain conditions reviewed at consultation.
What to expect, step by step
- Consultation: assessment of where your laxity sits and whether skin is the main target.
- Skin data: Mark-View 3D analysis may be used for texture and baseline comparison.
- Preparation: cleansing and coupling gel; numbing is often not needed but can be discussed.
- Treatment: the handpiece is moved across each area in passes; warmth is the main sensation.
- After: most people return to normal activity straight away.
Recovery and aftercare
Mild redness or warmth typically settles within hours. Keep skincare gentle, use sunscreen daily and avoid saunas, hot baths and very intense exercise for the first day. Because collagen remodelling is gradual, results are best judged over weeks to months. Softwave can be repeated at intervals your physician recommends, often as part of a maintenance plan rather than a one-off treatment.
Cost
The fee depends on the areas treated and whether Softwave is combined with other items in a program. It is quoted after the 1:1 consultation; ask for a written quote. Korean non-covered (비급여) aesthetic fees are set per plan.

Frequently asked questions
How is Softwave different from Ultherapy?
Ultherapy focuses ultrasound to points at set depths, including the SMAS, while Softwave uses parallel beams to warm a broader band of the dermis.
Does Softwave hurt?
Many people describe it as warm and relatively comfortable, though sensitivity varies.
Is there any downtime?
Usually very little; transient redness is the most common effect.
Why is it paired with Eye Thermage?
In the Eye Program the two are combined so eyelid skin and the surrounding area are treated together.
How soon will I see results?
Improvement is typically gradual over weeks to a few months as collagen renews.
