Body Skin Laxity Care in Cheongdam & Apgujeong, Seoul

Body skin laxity is loose or crepey skin on the abdomen, arms, thighs or knees caused by collagen loss, sun damage, pregnancy and weight change. At Doje Clinic in Cheongdam and Apgujeong, Seoul, Dr. Byun Jeik separates laxity from fat and volume, plans Body Program options where they help, and refers significant excess skin to a surgeon.

Why body skin loosens

Skin’s firmness depends on collagen for strength and elastin for recoil, both produced in the dermis. Body skin follows the same ageing biology as facial skin, but with some differences: it is often thinner in places such as the inner arms, inner thighs and above the knees, and it is stretched more dramatically by pregnancy and weight change.

  • Intrinsic ageing. Collagen production gradually falls with age, and existing fibres become less organised.
  • Sun exposure. Ultraviolet damage on the arms, chest, knees and legs adds crepey texture and accelerates laxity.
  • Pregnancy. The abdominal skin stretches considerably; stretch marks and laxity may persist after delivery, along with changes to the muscle wall beneath.
  • Weight loss. After significant or rapid loss, skin that was stretched for a long time may not fully retract. See sagging skin after weight loss.
  • Genetics and lifestyle. Skin type, smoking and nutrition all influence how well skin keeps its firmness.

Three different problems

What people describe as loose skin usually falls into one of three categories. Crepey texture is a surface change — fine crinkling, like tissue paper. Mild to moderate laxity is skin that drapes slightly but still follows the body’s contour. True excess skin hangs in a fold that can be lifted. These need very different approaches, and only the first two are realistic targets for non-surgical care.

How Doje Clinic assesses body laxity

In a private 1:1 consultation, Dr. Byun Jeik, a surgery specialist trained at Seoul National University, examines the area standing and in different positions. He pinches and lifts the tissue to judge how much is skin and how much is fat, checks skin texture, and looks at how volume loss or fat deposits are contributing to the lax appearance.

Honesty is part of Doje’s approach. Doje’s Body Program is designed around contour and volume rather than removing skin, so the assessment focuses on whether reducing fat or restoring volume will meaningfully improve how the skin sits — or whether surgery is the better route.

Two faces, same treatment, different results.

The difference is the design. Tell us your goals and dates; in your 1:1 consultation Dr. Byun Jeik shows you what your face needs, and what it doesn't.

Options from mild to advanced

  1. Protect and maintain. Sun protection on exposed areas, regular moisturising, strength training to build underlying muscle, and stable weight.
  2. Address fat that weighs skin down. Where localised fat contributes to a heavy or draped look, Body ONDA is used for contouring subcutaneous fat.
  3. Address volume deficits. In selected areas, body filler may support a deflated contour so skin sits more smoothly; suitability is decided at consultation.
  4. Localised refinement. Body injections from the Body Program may be considered after examination for specific areas.
  5. Surgical skin removal. For true excess skin, a plastic surgeon can discuss procedures such as abdominoplasty, arm lift or thigh lift.

Where Doje’s programs fit

Body laxity is planned within the Body Program when fat or volume plays a part. If laxity is part of wider ageing that also involves the face and neck, Dr. Byun can plan facial lifting alongside, so the face and body are treated consistently. Understanding how collagen responds to stimulation helps set expectations; see collagen stimulation explained.

When a surgeon is the right call

If you can grasp and lift a fold of loose skin, especially on the abdomen after pregnancy or on the arms and thighs after major weight loss, non-surgical treatments cannot remove it. A plastic surgeon is the appropriate specialist, and Doje will say so rather than offering treatment that is unlikely to meet your goals. Muscle separation after pregnancy may also need physiotherapy or surgical assessment.

What to expect

  1. 1:1 consultation and examination standing and seated.
  2. Clear advice on what non-surgical care can and cannot change.
  3. A Body Program plan where appropriate.
  4. Treatment sessions with gradual change, then review.

Frequently asked questions

Can loose body skin be tightened without surgery?

Mild laxity and crepey texture can sometimes be improved, especially when fat or volume contributes. True excess skin needs surgery.

What does Doje offer for body laxity?

Doje’s Body Program includes Body ONDA, body injections and body filler, used where fat or volume affects how skin sits.

How can I tell crepey skin from excess skin?

Crepey skin is a fine surface crinkling; excess skin forms a fold you can lift. A consultation confirms which you have.

Does exercise help loose skin?

Strength training builds muscle beneath the skin and improves firmness, but it does not remove excess skin.

Who should see a plastic surgeon?

People with overhanging skin folds after pregnancy or major weight loss usually benefit from a surgical opinion.

How much does treatment cost?

It is quoted after a 1:1 consultation. Korean aesthetic fees are non-covered and set per plan, so request a written quote.
