Brand versus product
Patients often ask for a brand, but each brand is a family of products that differ widely in firmness, cohesivity and intended depth. A soft, superficial Belotero gel and a deep, volumising Belotero gel behave very differently — and the same is true within the Juvederm range. Comparing "Belotero vs Juvederm" as a whole is therefore less useful than comparing two specific products for one specific area.
That said, the ranges do have recognisable characters. Belotero gels are made with a cohesive polydensified matrix technology and are frequently chosen where a filler needs to integrate smoothly into thin or superficial tissue, such as fine lines and delicate zones. The Juvederm range includes several gel technologies and a broad line-up from soft lip and fine-line products to firmer gels used for cheek and chin contour.
How Doje Clinic chooses
For transparency: Dr. Byun Jeik is a member of the Merz Advisory Board and the Belotero Expert Committee, received the 2023 Merz Golden Record Award as Belotero 2nd Runner-up, and filmed a Belotero Expert training video. He has also demonstrated at the 2024 Juvederm MD Codes event. That experience with both ranges is the point: the choice is made per area. Factors include skin thickness, how mobile the area is, the depth needed, and whether the job is support, contour or soft refinement — see soft vs structural filler.

When Doje combines them
Using products from both ranges in one face is common and logical, because each has strengths in particular zones. A plan might use a firmer gel for ligament support or chin projection and a softer, smoothly integrating gel for a tear trough or marionette fold. What matters is that each product sits in the right layer, in conservative amounts, and that the overall plan respects Doje's natural-results philosophy. Where sagging drives the problem, a thread lift may reduce the amount of filler needed altogether.
Which should you choose?
- Let the area decide — delicate, superficial zones and deep structural zones each have suitable products in both ranges.
- Ask for the product name — not just the brand — and why it was chosen for that area.
- Share your history — previous filler, reactions or dissolving help decide what to use now.
- Prioritise technique — placement, depth and volume matter at least as much as brand.
Recovery and aftercare
Swelling or bruising may appear and usually settles within days. Avoid pressing or massaging treated areas unless told otherwise; see filler aftercare.
Cost
Fees are quoted after a 1:1 consultation because product and quantity depend on your face. Ask for a written quote; Korean non-covered (비급여) aesthetic fees are set per plan.

Frequently asked questions
Is Belotero better than Juvederm?
Neither is better overall. Each range has products suited to different areas, and the right choice depends on the specific area and layer.
Which is better for under the eyes?
A soft, smoothly integrating gel is usually chosen for under the eyes; suitable options exist and are selected after assessment.
Can both brands be used in one treatment?
Yes. Using different products for different areas is common when each suits its zone.
Can these fillers be dissolved?
Both are hyaluronic acid fillers and can usually be dissolved with an enzyme if needed.
Does Dr. Byun have a brand affiliation?
He serves on the Merz Advisory Board and Belotero Expert Committee and has demonstrated at a Juvederm MD Codes event; products are chosen per area.
