Why “how long” has no single answer
Every result runs on two clocks. The product clock is how long the active ingredient or effect persists: Botox wears off as nerve endings form new connections, hyaluronic acid is gradually broken down, and absorbable threads dissolve. The ageing clock keeps ticking regardless: bone, fat, ligaments and skin continue to change while the treatment is working.
That is why a result can “fade” even when some benefit remains. Collagen built in response to energy devices, threads or collagen boosters is your own tissue, so the face often stays ahead of where it would have been untreated, even after the visible lift has softened. Comparing yourself with your own photo from before treatment, rather than with the first week afterwards, gives a fairer picture.
Typical longevity by treatment
These are typical ranges from mainstream clinical experience; yours may be shorter or longer.
| Treatment | Typical duration | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Botox, jaw Botox | About 3–4 months; jaw slimming often lasts longer | Onset over days, peak around two weeks |
| Skin Botox | Often a few months | Surface effect on pores and oil |
| Soft and structural HA filler | Often 6–18 months | Low-movement areas tend to keep filler longer |
| Radiesse | Often around a year or more | Also stimulates collagen |
| Ultherapy Prime, Thermage | Gradual build over 2–3 months; refreshed about yearly | Depends on skin quality |
| Thread lift | Up to two years or more, per the clinic | Varies with sagging and tissue |
| Rejuran, GOURI, Re2O | Series, then maintenance every few months | Quality rather than lift |

Two faces, same treatment, different results.
The difference is the design. Tell us your goals and dates; in your 1:1 consultation Dr. Byun Jeik shows you what your face needs, and what it doesn't.
What tends to shorten results
- Strong, frequent muscle use: very expressive faces and strong jaw clenching can wear Botox off sooner.
- High-movement placement: filler around the mouth usually lasts less long than filler over the cheekbone.
- Sun, smoking and poor sleep: all accelerate collagen breakdown and skin ageing.
- Significant weight change: losing facial fat can uncover laxity that a lift was supporting.
- Treating the wrong layer: filling volume where the real problem is sagging rarely lasts or looks right.
What helps results last
- Daily broad-spectrum sun protection and a simple, consistent skincare routine
- Following aftercare closely in the first two weeks, when tissue is settling
- Keeping body weight reasonably stable
- Maintenance timed before the result has completely faded, rather than starting again from scratch
How Doje designs for longevity
Doje Clinic's philosophy, “care needs change as time passes”, is really a statement about longevity. In a 1:1 consultation, Dr. Byun Jeik assesses facial structure, ageing pattern and goals, then addresses the cause first: supporting retaining ligaments, repositioning tissue with thread lifting, or tightening with an energy device chosen for the correct depth. Filler and boosters are added only as far as needed. Building on structure tends to give a result that ages more gracefully than layering volume on top of sagging.
Mark-View 3D skin analysis provides objective data at the start, which makes later comparisons less dependent on memory or flattering lighting. Read more in our maintenance schedule guide.
Cost
Longevity is one reason plans differ so much in value, which is why fees are quoted after a 1:1 consultation. Ask for a written quote; Korean non-covered (비급여) aesthetic fees are set per plan.

Frequently asked questions
Does Botox last longer with repeated treatments?
Some people find their intervals lengthen with regular treatment, but this is individual and not guaranteed.
Do fillers last longer in some areas?
Generally yes. Areas with little movement, such as over the cheekbone or under the eye, tend to retain filler longer than the lips or around the mouth.
What happens when a thread lift wears off?
Absorbable threads dissolve gradually. The face does not typically drop suddenly; it simply continues to age from where it is.
Are energy-device results permanent?
No. New collagen is your own tissue, but ageing continues, so many people repeat lifting treatments about once a year.
How will I know when to come back?
At review, the doctor compares you with your baseline, and Mark-View 3D data can help. Many people return when they notice the effect softening rather than waiting until it is gone.
